Unlike passive quests, active quests require activation before they can progress. Only one active quest can be activated at a time. If you're having trouble completing a quest, you can activate another one without losing progress... unless the current active quest contains challenges marked with the 'consecutive' keyword. In that case, progress on those specific challenges will be lost.
